The Second Line

What a fun wedding this one was! This couple had an intimate celebration inside the Tapestry House itself. The groom was a member of the Air Force and they got married here in Colorado because that is where they are stationed. Both of their families traveled here and met for the first time at the wedding.

They must have had some family from somewhere in the Gulf Coast because on their way out to the brick ceremony they started a "Second Line". Now we here had never seen this tradition, but we quickly got on board! Traditionally in New Orleans when there is a parade, only the club members who are in the band have a permit to parade. The fans who follow behind the bands to listen to the music and dance are called "second liners". They usually wave around parasols and fabric as they dance behind the parade route.

They danced and paraded all over the grounds! It was such a great night! We thank this couple for a few things. Number 1: for their service to our country and Number 2: for showing us a new tradition that we fell in love with!

We hope that you have more days to dance in your lives together as husband and wife!
