I'm Melting! I'm Melting!

No, it wasn't bride and groom melting from the heat.

It was the WEDDING CAKE!

There was a beautiful cake, made with love by the bride's niece.  It had flowers and ribbons and all the trimmings.  It did not have enough cool air though.  The back of the cake started to melt and sag.  The fondant icing was shiny and slippery.

Before the wedding even started we turned the lights off near the cake in the reception pavilion and lowered the temperature in the room to a balmy 60 degrees, to keep the cake from crashing before the cake cutting.  We turned on all the lights right before the guests came into the reception.

Tapestry House staff (and Green's Point Catering) handled the situation perfectly.  We moved the cake cutting up in the timeline and had them cut the cake first thing after dinner.  We moved into toasts and dancing and whisked the cake into the back kitchen to cut.  No one noticed the sliding cake and it was delicious!
