Anchors Away!

This proposal story was submitted to us by a bride who will be getting married here at Tapestry House next Spring.  We loved her story so much that we wanted to feature it here so you all can read it!  Here is what she wrote:

"Although I knew for a long time my sailor finance, AC2 Bruce, would be proposing to me, I really didn't suspect a thing when we went to the Navy ball here in Virginia last October.  We had a wonderful meal, we danced cheek to cheek, and even tried not to bump into the Vice Admiral while he busted some moves with his wife right beside us!"  (Sounds like a lot of fun, right?!  We love dancing and a ball sounds really exciting!!)

The bride goes on to say:  "It was only after the evening ended and we stepped outside the hotel on the way back to the car that something began to seem fishy.  He started acting kind of nervous, and made a somewhat random suggestion we take a walk (in the cold wind, after midnight!) across the street to a waterside walkway.  I really didn't want to walk anywhere after having danced in heels all night and after telling him this, I nervously laughed out, "What, were you gonna propose to me?"  I immediately regretted the comment, though, because it was obvious what was going on--but he didn't say a word and assured me I hadn't ruined anything.  When we got home, though, before we could so much as take off our shoes, he sat on the arm of the couch and called me over.  He told me he was nervous, and when I  asked why he said, "Because I don't know how it goes."  He got down on one knee and said, "Like this?"  Of course, I immediately started bawling."

And we know how this story ends!  She said yes, and now they are in the process of planning a beautiful wedding here at Tapestry House!  We are so glad that Hannah shared this story with us and we wish her and Bruce all the best as they finish up this planning process and cannot wait to be a part of their wedding in the Spring!!

You Wear White and I'll Wear Out the Words "I Love You!"

At the end of June, we had the pleasure of taking part in a beautiful wedding for a wonderful couple!  We discovered that the couple first met at a CSU football game.  The groom had his dog with him and when the bride went to pet the dog, they couple met and immediately hit it off!  They actually had the dog in the wedding since he was the whole reason they met in the first place!  How fun to have a family pet in your wedding party!

Each table was set with beautiful blue napkins and gorgeous centerpieces.  At each place setting, the couple had a little booklet typed up with details about themselves and about the night ahead for the guests to refer to.  One of the most exciting parts for us to see in these booklets was the couple's proposal story!  The groom played the song "Marry Me" by Train as they drove back to her house.  She didn't really think anything of it until they reached the front steps of the house.  Her mom had set out a little blue pillow for him and he knelt down on it and proposed right there on the steps!  She, of course, said yes and the rest, as they say, is history!

The couple also wrote about how their favorite number was 11 and why it was significant to them!  This significance ranged from the date of their wedding adding up to 11 (2+9=11), the number of letters in their last names combined equaled 11, their birthdays were 11 days apart, and many other coincidences involving that number!  It was fun for the guests to read those booklets and learn more about the couple.

They also had a wishing tree for guests to leave them a note about how to succeed in their first year of marriage, and for the years to come.  This was a fun, different way to do a guest book and to have nice wishes from their guests that they could treasure forever!  They even brought in a little tree for their guests to hang their wishes on!  Look how cute it looked in their colors and it even lights up!  They also incorporated those same blues into their cake and cake table as well, tying their decor together so nicely.

We wish this couple all the best as they (and their dog!) embark on a wonderful journey together!  We loved being a part of this beautiful wedding and learning about their story as the guests did!  Congratulations to the both of you!

Reaching Home Plate!!

Do you remember the story we featured here from November entitled "Home Plate Glory"?  Well, if you don't remember, the groom proposed to the bride at Coors Field on home plate (since their first date was at a Rockies game when he "tricked" her into a date) and they decided to have their wedding here at Tapestry House!  The reception was absolutely gorgeous and the personal details and thought that the couple put into planning it was beautiful to see.  This wedding was definitely all about the details!!  One of the unique details that we haven't seen displayed in quite this manner before was their love story and photos from both the bride and groom's childhood!  This beautiful display was assembled on site by the father and mother of the bride and it created a wonderful focal point at the reception!  It listed important dates in their relationship and helped guests to better know each of them by looking at their childhood photographs.

Not only did they create a unique display of their love story, but they added a lot of other personal details, too.  The candle holders wrapped in lace displayed on some of the tables were made by the bride, as well as the reserved table signs.  They also had a coffee bar with specialty coffees brewed by Everyday Joe's Coffee House.  The sign displaying the coffee choices was again made by the bride.  We absolutely loved all of her personal details and the planning that went into making she and husband's dream reception a reality!

 

The reception featured a live band instead of a DJ, which was fun!  The tables looked beautiful with the bride's candles and the flowers provided by the florist.  They also had some delicious-looking desserts from Strawberry Champagne Cupcakes to Tiramisu as well as some more traditional cakes.

Another detail that we loved was this couple's gift and favor table!  Now, some may not think about ways to get creative with this aspect of the wedding, but this couple did!  They had a beautiful birdcage to hold any cards they received and a handmade sign that instructed "Flowers for growing" on one side and "Flowers for throwing" on the other.  They had wildflower seed packets that were personalized with their names and wedding date as favors for their guests as well as sheet music cones holding flower petals to be thrown at the end of the evening.

We absolutely loved working with this couple and seeing their reception come to life with their personal details!  We wish you both all the best as you embark on your new life together!!
